As I told you previously Des is presently taking part in KandyLand Kurls Protective Style Challenge. This post is going to show you the style Des wore for week 3 of this challenge.
Prior to styling Des' hair this way, we had to take down all her mini braids. I then had to remove all the shed hair while I did this I pre-pooed Des' hair with Macadamia Nut Oil to break down any build up of other oils that may have been on her hair and to keep her hair from drying out when we shampooed and conditioned her hair. Once we shampooed and conditioned her hair she used her Curl Cloth to remove some of the water from her hair.
Now onto the styling, for this style I make sure her hair is completely detangled. I used Jane Carter Solutions Nourish & Shine and Wrap & Roll for this style. Once her hair is detangled, I stand in front of her and she looks down. I brush her hair up and to the front while applying the Nourish & Shine and Wrap & Roll. Once I have that done I begin french braiding her hair upside down. Once I get her hair french braided to the top of her head I gather the rest of her hair and smooth it into a high pony tail. I secure it with an Ouchless ponytail holder. With the hair that is coming out of the ponytail holder I put into multiple two strand twist. When all the hair is in twists, I gather them together and rotate them together. I then take the twisted twists and form them into a circle making a bun. I secure the hair into the bun with hair pins (open bobby pins).
When all is said and done you have no exposed ends. Jazz it up with headbands, flowers, bows, or hair clips.
You can change this style up by letting the hair out of the bun and just wear the twists out. You can do also a twist out with the twists coming out of the pony tail.
In order to preserve this style and keep the frizz down, Des wraps her hair with a silky scarf around the circumference of her hairline and then putting on her satin bonnet.
I hope you enjoyed seeing this style. Until the next time... Stay Blessed!

DeleteIt's oh so pretty and that bun looks so intricate. Love it with the dainty flower...
ReplyDeleteI love when things look more intricate than they are. Thank You.
DeleteThat's gorgeous!!! Such a great style for child and adult alike!!! Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteChar~
I would love to see an adult rock this style. Des loves it. So do I. Thank You Char.
DeleteThat is so pretty!! I've been wanting to try a style like that on myself, but not sure if I could do it.
ReplyDeleteI think you could. I bet I would find it easier to do on me than I do on Des only cause of how I have to position her. Please share pics if you decide to do it. I would love to see.
