Review: Little Miss Fuzzy Head Happy Hair Fusion

Des and I were very excited for that Miya from Little Miss Fuzzy-Head allowed us this opportunity to do a review. The excitement increased greatly once we received our package because it smells soooo good. I really can't tell you exactly what it smells like, other than a good clean kinda smell which would work well for male and females. I think we opened it to smell it numerous times before we had an opportunity to use it. When we received the Little Miss Fuzzy-Head, we were close to the end of Kandy Land Kurls Protective Style Challenge so the timing was perfect to use this product for some smaller twists.

I love that it there are directions on the side to tell you how to use it for various styles and all the ingredients are clearly listed on the container as well. I would also like to mention the Little Miss Fuzzy-Head is made with all natural products and is also Naturally Vegan which is a plus. I found the Little Miss Fuzzy-Head is not too thick or too thin which definitely made it very easy to work with. If I had to compare the consistency,  I would say a nice thick cream. Little Miss Fuzzy-Head comes in a 4 oz. size for $12 or 8 oz. for $22, you can even get it unscented if you want to.

I started with freshly washed and detangled hair. I applied a nickel size amount of Little Miss Fuzzy-Head which I rubbed in my hands and ran my hands through Des' hair. I then followed that with a modified Denman to make sure the product was worked through her hair. I actually put Des' hair into a piggy back ponytail and left it that way overnight before I began doing small twists on her hair. The next day I "pinch parted" her hair and did two strand twists to her whole head using a little more of the Little Miss Fuzzy-Head on the sections. I am sure I would have been fine to do the twists without more product but I love the way it smells.

I am happy to report that these twists looked great for the 13 days we kept them in and the braid out was wonderful. I can't wait to see how this product works for Des when she decides she wants to wear her hair out. I really like this product. I found that it worked wonderfully in Des' hair and she didn't require much moisture added over the 13 day period.

Blended Beauty Review

I have had the pleasure of working with Blended Beauty in reviewing a couple of products they sent me to use on Des. The first is the Curly Cake Shake, which is a Leave-In Spray Lotion used to detangle. I love how this spray bottle is designed, it allows you to lock it when not in use, with a small little button located on the nozzle which you just push one direction or the other.  The second is the Down and Out Styles, which is a Leave-In Conditioner Butter. I have used these products together a couple of times.

Curly Cake Shake

The first time I used these two products I had just shampooed and conditioned Des' hair like I normally would with shampoo and conditioner we already had. When I sat her down to detangle her hair I sprayed some of the Curly Cake Shake on sections of her hair and finger detangled and then went through the sections with a modified Denman brush. After doing that I applied the Down and Out Styles to the section I just detangled. I applied it from root to tip of hair by running my hands (with product on them) down each section. I did this to all of Des' hair the night before the hair show she was in since it was out of town. We pineappled her hair while she sleep and in the morning it looked fine. It was very humid that day and I noticed as the day progressed it got a little puffy but I think it had a lot to do with the amount of product I used. Since I wasn't sure how much was needed I did not apply a lot. Lesson learned, it is part of learning a new product. When we got home from the hair show I put her hair in a pony tail and two strand twisted her loose hair without any more product. She still looked great and it was moisturized for quite a number of days.

The second time I used these two products we co washed her hair with a conditioner we already had and when she sat down I sectioned her hair. I then sprayed it generously with the Curly Cake Shake, I spread it while I finger detangled and then again when I brushed with the modified Denman. I then took small sections of her hair and with the Down and Out Styles on my fingers I twisted her hair from root to tip to create curls. I repeated this process until her entire head was done. Once it was done we ended up leaving to go out of town so she was in the car for a hour and a half trip sitting against her hair. I feared the worst but I was pleasantly surprised when she got out and her hair still looked great.

Des wore her hair like this over three days, I have a break down of days and hours in the pics below. At night to preserve the curls, I pineappled her hair and in the morning if needed I sprayed her hair with the Curly Cake Shake. Des' hair could have lasted longer but it was time to go get a trim and so I washed and conditioned her hair before going to her stylist.

I think these products work great on Des' hair now that I know how to apply them, they are very moisturizing and smell delicious. I love how they are packaged and the texture of them. I would love to see how a few of Blended Beauty's other products work. I imagine that they would work just as wonderfully.

Blended Beauty has a variety of products for different hair types and needs. I am sure there is something there for anyone who has dry, wavy, curly, kinky and relaxed hair or heat straightened hair. Blended Beauty also makes wonderful satin sleeping caps, although I don't have one for Des, from the pictures they look great.

Review: Beautiful Curls Curl Nurturing System

First off, I want to thank beautiful curls for the opportunity to review these products. I used these products on Des and I over a couple of months worth of time. The one thing I must say off the bat is I love how these products smell. It is a light citrus scent, that initially I could not place, but came to realize it was Mango and Vanilla extract.

I have used the shampoo and leave in conditioner numerous times. I love the way that it works on me. I used the Curl Activating Cream on my hair to do a flat twist out. The results were great, the curl pattern held without making my hair hard or too oily and it helped it last for a few days until I washed it out. I know I will continue to use these products on my hair since I received very favorable results every time I have used it.

Now on to Des' hair, I have used these products at different times on her hair and it has been a process of trial and error for me before I got down my technique. As with any new product, the way you apply plays a large role in how well it performs; well at least for me that is the case.

I would like to say that the very first remark I heard from Des in regards to the Shampoo is that she loved the way it felt on her scalp and that she enjoyed the smell. She also said the same for the Leave In/ Detangler. I have done quite a few styles with these products. I am sure you all can remember our pony tail with the big bow for our Breast Cancer Awareness style, well we used the Shampoo, Leave In/ Detangler and Curl Activating Cream to create it. In order to keep the curls fresh we used the Curl Reviving Tonic, it worked well to help keep the frizz down for us.

Well it is one thing to wear the majority of your hair up in a style but the real test is how well it preforms with all the hair worn out. Well I shall show you our experience. First, I applied Macadamia Nut Oil to her hair and scalp as a pre poo, letting it sit for about 10 minutes before I shampooed Des' hair with Beautiful Curls Shampoo. Upon her getting out of the water I wrapped her hair in a t-shirt to take some of the water out of her hair and proceeded to apply the Beautiful Curls Leave In/ Detangler. I finished her hair off with the Curl Activating Cream applied to small detangled sections of hair from root to ends using a raking method with my fingertips. I did this till her whole head was done and then let her hair dry naturally. The results were good. I think in some areas I was a little heavy handed which caused her hair to be stiff but it was no longer like that the next day. To preserve her curls while she sleeps, I "pineapple" her hair and she covered her hair with a bonnet.

The shampoo is very thick so it does not take much to get the job done. The leave in/ detangler is also very thick which is great, it makes it much easier for me to distribute when I don't have to worry about conditioner slipping out of my hand or through my fingers. The curl activating cream is thinner than the conditioner but not so much that it slides off your fingers or drips. The actual curl reviving tonic has to be shaken but when it is sprayed it did not make her hair sticky or tacky feeling. The spray covered the area evenly and with a fine layer of tonic.

So after all the uses, I still have more than three fourths of the containers of products. I have also used them on JoJo and her baby sis, Baby A. I am sure you can tell by the pics that the products work well.

Newly Nailed...Sure Seems Shiny (Review)

While I love to have my fingernails painted, I find that the polish seems to smudge or chip every time I paint them. I have tried various base and top coats to try and remedy this to no avail. Well recently I came across some new products made by Milani. They are the Milani Nail Treatment Smoothe Base Coat and Milani Nail Treatment Glosse Top Coat. They can be found at Walgreens for approximately $5 each.

I decided to finally try these products to see if they were worth the money. I chose my color of nail polish, Ulta Eye Popping Poppy. I made sure my hands were clean to ensure that there was no lotion or oils on my actual nail beds. I was in a rush when I painted my nails so these pictures are not the best example of my nail polishing abilities...LOL.

Upon applying the base coat, I noticed that as it dried it left a matte whitish finish. The base coat dried quickly and the applicator brush worked well in apply the coat evenly.

Once I applied the base coat to all my nails, I applied one coat of the Ulta Eye Popping Poppy. Something I noticed immediately is that it felt like the base coat was grabbing the colored polish. It was a very strange feeling but at the same time it made me feel like it was going to help the colored polish to last longer. I applied a second coat and waited a few minutes before applying the top coat. The top coat went on smoothly and seemed to dry quickly and super duper shiny.

I am happy so far with the way this base and top coat have preformed up to this point. I am very hard on my nails so typically by now I would have chipping. I hope that this review is useful to someone. If you happen to have or get these products please give me your feedback. 

FYI:

* Darker nail polishes take longer to dry. Now that we are heading into fall and winter I know we will start using darker colors so keep that in mind when you allot time to do your nails.

* Do NOT shake your nail polishes instead roll them in your hand to mix the color to prevent bubbles. 

I have a Crush on CUSH Cosmetics...

I was lucky enough to win a CUSH Cosmetics Ultimate Curl Moisture and Protein Sample Pack from a giveaway held on Untrained Hair Mom back in June. I was so excited I couldn't wait to use these products on our next style which wasn't till the middle part of July cause life is crazy.

First off we used the Mango Babassu Shampoo Bar, I have mixed reviews on this bar but I think it has more to do with the length of Des' hair in relation to the size of the bar we received. Des said it bothered her to have me rub it to the different sections of her scalp. I will say that it lathered enough and rinsed easily once applied. Des' hair felt clean without feeling stripped.

The next product I used was Moisturize Me to detangle her hair and get it ready to be styled. The Moisturize Me provide the slip and moisture I needed to detangle her hair. This process can take a while at times cause of the length of her hair but it didn't take near as long using this in her hair.

Des and I decided to do a freestyle flat twist style leading to two strand twist. I parted her hair from ear to ear and as I made the parts for the flat twists I applied some of the Mango Pomade to my fingers to aid me. I only used Mango Pomade on the section I did the flat twist on. I found that she didn't have flyaways once her hair dried like she typically does. Below are pics of her flat twist:

On the back of her hair, I did apply some Curl Extender to aid me in doing her two strand twist. I did twists on the whole back portion of her hair. I love the way the twists looked and held up. Typically I have to use rubber bands on the ends of her hair to make her twist stay but I found that this time I did not. These twists lasted a week before we took down for a twist out in the back of her hair. The front of her hair stayed until we got tired of this particular style.
